Emily was nominated because of the services she provides her mom, Laura. Emily says, “From a very young age I have cared for my mother. She is not only my mom, but also my best friend. She has fought for her life to be able to watch me grow. The relationship we share is one of a kind. I need her just as much as she needs me. My life is of complete devotion to her and her needs, I wouldn’t want it any other way. I am beyond thankful that GT Independence has given me the opportunity to continue to support her needs.”
Donna was nominated for taking care of Ann-Marie. Donna says, “With all the things that have happened in 2020 the good the bad and the ugly Ann-Marie has been my rock for me. I know that when I’m with her she takes my mind off of all the negatives going on in this world. I’ve told her mother many times that I need her as much as she needs me. She always welcomes me with twinkles in her eye, a smile ear to ear and a kiss to my for head. Ann-Marie has become a part of my family and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Elizabeth was nominated by her mom because “She is so dedicated to giving her sister the best care possible and making sure that she can live as normal a life as possible. She not only takes care of her sister in the allotted hours through the program, she also goes above and beyond and offers herself to be available 24/7 to address any needs that her sister has. She takes her shopping, out for lunch, to her doctor appointments, and to get manicures and pedicures. She strives to always give her the best care that she can and that she would like to receive herself. She wants to make her life as normal as possible and strive to help her fit in and feel as important as any other individual out there. If you ask her why she does it, she humbly responds…It’s what I want to do and feel led to do, and no one can offer the love and care more than someone that is a part of that person’s life and knows exactly what she needs. She will also tell you she is proud of the job that she does because she making a difference and it about making a difference in someone’s life and being a part of something bigger than yourself.”

Celeste Ann nominated her daughter Tiffany because “Tiffany takes care of her brother, so that I can have a break. She also goes and bathes her aunt’s mother-in-law and travels 20 miles one way to do it. She takes care of a gentleman with Alzheimer’s four days a week so his wife can do her errands. She is a mother to four children on top of this and is an excellent one at that. She never takes time for herself, but is always taking care of everyone else. She deserves this recognition and so much more!! Thank you Tiff for all you do!!”
Tisha received several nominations because “She is the reason for her father’s improved health and she continues to make sacrifices for her the family and others;” she is the “best caregiver I know. I am an R.N. and have worked with a geriatric population and their families for many years.Tisha takes such good care of of her father. She is a kind, loving devoted daughter. Her father could not be in better hands;” and she is “so selfless and passionate about helping everyone around her with little to no thought of herself. She has been Cliff’s caregiver for over 15 years. I have never met a more kind person. Thank you for everything you do Tisha!!!”
Pam was nominated for the services she provides her mother. Pam says, ” I’m actually better able to care for her now [with GT]. I’m in her life sharing her medical struggles so that she isn’t alone. The care for her now is preparing us for the care she will need later on. I’m sooo blessed to even be able to do this with her! Knowing her routine and what she likes now will help keep up on the things that make her happy and what she doesn’t like to struggle with. It makes a perfect balance.”
Mia was nominated by Shayna because “She currently works as a caregiver! She has worked with the same guys since she started around eight years ago! My mom has been a caregiver since I can remember. She loves her job and loves what she does. My mom is an amazing advocate and I have always told her that I wish GT would pop up in the state of IN so she could be apart of this great company ❤️”
Joselito nominated his girlfriend because “She helps anyone she can. She took care of her sick mom and dad until they died. She moved my mom and dad into our house two months after we bought it. I can’t say enough about this wonderful, compassionate woman. She has a heart of gold and angel wings on her back. She goes above and beyond her job and loves all her clients.”
Tami was nominated by Jerry because she is a “selfless and caring person who has been a major influence in my impaired brother’s life. The time and dedication that Tami has provided over the years has made a huge difference in his life, helping him to develop his life skills. I cannot imagine what we would have done without the gift of Tami. These same attributes also radiate into Tami’s day-to-day life, with her family members and friends. We are very thankful for having Tami in our life.”
Ashley was nominated for providing services to her nana. Ashley says she is “so thankful and blessed to be able to work for this company and care for my nana. I’ve been so close with her since I can remember. When she first started having mobility issues I would call my grandpa to pick me up early from school (faking sick) just to be able to sit with her to make sure she hadn’t fallen and been hurt. Now she’s has these services and working for this company has been nothing but amazing for myself and my grandparents. It’s made a huge difference for us to be together daily, we are able to spend time together and I have peace of mind knowing she’s being well cared for. Thank you so much GT Independence.”
Elida was nominated because being a caregiver is “love, connection, effective communication and understanding of the person been served. All that will allow the Caregiver to skillfully handle the day to day challenges and successfully help the person been served to have a happy life. Smiling faces, that is what we want. It is food for the heart.”
Penny was nominated by Marjorie. Marjorie says, “Penny is a wonderful caregiver and skilled assistant. Do not know what I would do without her. I adore her and look forward to our one on one time together. She always goes above and beyond! Never a negative word. She has introduced me to meditation and has taking me to drum circles and Reiki sessions, on her own time. I now know the importance of inner balance and self healing.”
