Online Resources through the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD)

May 3, 2021

The California State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) is an independent state agency. SCDD was established to serve people with developmental disabilities. The SCDD helps people get the long-term support and services they need. And, it works to make sure that these individuals get to plan and decide how and when they receive them. The goal is to help people use self-determination to live more independent lives—no matter their ability.

SCDD has 31 members and 12 regional offices around California. The regional offices work with people with disabilities and their families to help with services. The offices help with advocacy, training, monitoring, and public information. They also help to make sure people’s rights are protected and that rules are being followed.

The SCDD prepares educational materials and resources. These materials help people learn to be or stay active in their community, and they can be found on the website at scdd.ca.gov. Visitors to the website can also find:

  • Regional office locations
  • General resources and links to state and national organizations
  • Self-advocacy resources
  • Webinars
  • News and events
  • Development grants and sponsorships
  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Committee information

SCDD and COVID-19 Vaccinations

For Californians with developmental disabilities, the SCDD is a good resource for information about COVID-19. The website has information about how to stay healthy, and it has important details about how to get vaccinated. Visitors to the page can learn:
