What is Individual and Family Directed Goods and Services (IFDGS)?
Self-direction helps people live the life they choose. That includes choosing vendors that best fit their preferences. With this service, you can get the services, equipment, or supplies you need.
Individual and Family Directed Goods and Services (IGDGS) is part of the Family Supports Waivers, Community Supports Waiver, and Community Pathways Waiver.
How to Apply for a Waiver Service
To choose a service, talk with your coordinator of community services (CCS) or support broker. Tell them that you’re interested in self-directed services. If you’re eligible, your CCS will make a referral through LTSS Marlyand. Make sure to tell your CCS that you want GT Independence as your financial management services and counseling provider (FMCS).
As the Financial Management Counseling Services (FMCS) provider, GT Independence enrolls your chosen vendors. We also make sure that the vendors submit the correct documentation. This helps the goods and services authorized in the person-centered plan get approved and paid for with fewer delays
How Goods and Services Works
The process for purchasing goods and the process for purchasing services is slightly different. Make sure to review each process and follow the required steps.
What People Can Purchase With IFDGS
IFDGS doesn’t have a set list of items it provides because everyone’s needs and resources are different. But the service, equipment, or supplies must meet these needs:
- The requested goods and services must be authorized in the participant’s person-centered plan (PCP) or SDS Budget sheet
- The requested goods and services must fall within reasonable and customary standards
- The vendor for the requested goods and services must meet DDA’s qualifications for
the service
