Community Mental Health

CMH Overview 

Community Mental Health (CMH) organizations in Michigan work with many different waivers and programs. While GT Independence doesn’t directly work with those waivers and programs, we do support and partner with some CMHs. Their services can be very valuable to you and to other Michigan residents. Ask your CMH if GT Independence works with the program or waiver you’re a part of.

Who the CMHs Serve

• People who are eligible for Medicaid

With CMHs, You [Participants] Can… 

• Get the help you need with community living supports and respite care. 
• Choose to have your care self directed, letting you live the life you choose. 
• Have the ability to manage your care, including hiring (and firing) your own caregivers.

How GT Independence Supports You 

At GT, we believe that you should have the freedom to choose how to live your life. This includes choosing who provides your needed support. 

We take a person-centered approach for your financial management services here at GT. This means we work hard to provide you with an exceptional customer experience. As your advocates for self-direction, we’re here to help you live the life you choose. We do this by:

• Coordinating your enrollment paperwork 
• Conducting background checks for your employees
• Handling time tracking, tax filings, and insurance
• Processing payroll and issuing payments to your employees 
• Helping with verifying your employee’s citizenship status  
• Creating and maintaining files 
• Assisting members with resolving questions and complaints   
• Providing CARF accredited financial management service
