Division of Aging and Adult Services Overview

In North Carolina, the Home and Community Care Block Grant serves people who are aging and need in-home and community-based services. If you are an older adult, you can choose from up to 18 different types of services to help you live independently. These services help you keep active, and you choose what you need to stay that way. You can get help with nutrition and meals, healthcare, transportation, and daily tasks. To enroll, you will need to meet certain criteria.

Who the Division of Aging and Adult Services Serves

  • People who are at least 60 years of age (and their primary, unpaid caregivers) 
  • People who also need in-home and community-based services

  • Have full employer authority, so you can hire, manage, and even fire employees
  • Decide what type of training your employees need
  • Set a schedule for your employees that meets your needs 
  • Pay your employees a competitive rate and decide on their benefits

  • Get personal assistant services in your own home and community
