Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA)
The Family Supports Waiver helps kids with developmental disabilities live independent lives. Rather than going to group homes, kids can stay in their own homes and communities. To make this possible, the waiver provides many different services to families. This includes the ability to hire employed caregivers.
To get on the waiver, you start by applying. If you’re accepted, you’ll receive a letter from your regional office. During a person-centered planning meeting, a coordinator of community services (CCS) will help you and your kids choose the best services.
The goal of this waiver is to help kids increase their independence. All so they can live the life they choose for themselves.
Self-direction helps people live the life they choose. That includes choosing vendors that best fit their preferences. With this service, you can get the services, equipment, or supplies you need.
